Is there a squash that grows in Ontario, Canada that looks like butternut squash but is very bitter???

seeds on the middle are also very bitter. it has a much lighter colored flesh. is it possible that it is by a hair's breadth an under-ripened butternut squash? or is maybe old??? it seems like it might have been also a deal with tougher than normal.
Are you unswerving it's not a gourd?
